The Undergraduate Italian Program

The Minor in Italian

The minor in Italian is a program consisting of six, three-credit courses in which students pursue studies in Italian beyond the beginning and intermediate levels. In consultation with departmental advisors, students combine their work with other academic disciplines and develop particular strengths and interests in Italian literature, language, or culture. Students pursuing the Minor in Italian are strongly encouraged to study abroad.

Prerequisite:

  • Successful completion of Italian 240 or equivalent placement.

6 Required Courses:

  • Italian 300 (Composition and Conversation)
  • Italian 315 (Advanced Composition and Conversation)
  • Italian 301 (Introduction to Italian Literature I)
  • Italian 302 (Introduction to Italian Literature II)
  • Italian 335 (Italy and the Italians I)
  • Italian 336 (Italy and the Italians II)
    Italian 340 (Studies in Italian Culture) and Italian 495 (Directed Readings in Italian) may be taken in place of Italian 335 and Italian 336 only by permission of the Italian advisor.
