The Undergraduate French Program
The Major in French
The major in French is a program consisting of ten, three-credit courses in
which students pursue studies in French beyond the beginning and intermediate
levels. In consultation with departmental advisors, students combine their work
with other academic disciplines and develop particular strengths and interests
in French literature, language, and culture.
Prerequisites
- Successful completion of French 234, 240, 241, or equivalent placement.

credit from these programs is applicable to the minor. Students should consult

Students are invited to meet with faculty members in French to discuss the major,
independent study, and honors in French.
